Morphine Dosage at Admission:

8% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage at admission was 47.5mg.

Morphine Dosage at Admission and Last 24 Hours:

8% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage was 47.5mg at admission and increased to 72.0mg in the last 24 hours.

Pain at Admission:

Of the 26 patients assessed at admission, 27% had no pain or mild pain, 19% had moderate to severe pain, and 54% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 26 patients assessed at admission, 27% had no pain or mild pain, 19% had moderate to severe pain, and 54% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 12 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no pain or mild pain slightly decreased to 8%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 92%.

Of the 12 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild breathlessness decreased to 8%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 92%.

Of the 26 patients evaluated upon admission, 92% showed no agitation or confusion, 4% showed mild, and 4% showed moderate to severe.

Of the 26 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no agitation or confusion were 96%. Those with moderate to severe were 4%.
