82% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage was 68.6mg at admission and increased to 92.7mg in the last 24 hours.

Pain at Admission:

Of the 61patients assessed at admission, 47% had no pain or mild pain, 47% had moderate to severe pain, and 5% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 61patients assessed at admission, 47% had no pain or mild pain, 47% had moderate to severe pain, and 5% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 34 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no pain or mild pain decreased to 37%. Those with moderate to severe pain decreased to 18%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 47%.
