Morphine Dosage at Admission:

55% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage at admission was 46.4mg.

55% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage was 46.4mg at admission and 52.1mg in the last 24 hours.

Pain at Admission:

Of the 74 patients assessed at admission, 69% had no pain or mild pain, 26% had moderate to severe pain, and 5% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 74 patients assessed at admission, 69% had no pain or mild pain, 26% had moderate to severe pain, and 5% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 44 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no pain or mild pain decreased to 52%. Those with moderate to severe pain decreased to 11%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness were 36%.

Breathlessness at Admission:

Of the 74 patients assessed at admission, 75% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 18% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness. 7% appeared vague and not had unclear consciousness.

Of the 74 patients assessed at admission, 75% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 18% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness. 7% appeared vague and not had unclear consciousness.

Of the 44 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild breathlessness decreased to 43%. Those with moderate breathlessness decreased to 3%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 51%.

Fatigue at Admission:

Of the 74 patients evaluated at admission, 38% had no or mild fatigue, while 55% experienced moderate to severe fatigue. 7% felt appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 74 patients evaluated at admission, 38% had no or mild fatigue, while 55% experienced moderate to severe fatigue. 7% felt appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 74 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild fatigue decreased to 20%. Those with moderate to severe fatigue were 52%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 27%.

Leg Edema at Admission:

Of the 74 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild edema were 52%, and with moderate to severe edema were 48%.

Of the 74 patients evaluated at admission, 53% had no ascites or showed no symptoms related to it, and 47% showed symptoms due to ascites.

Of the 74 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, 59% had no ascites or showed no symptoms related to it, and 41% showed symptoms due to ascites.

Agitation or Confusion (Hyperactive Delirium) at Admission:

Of the 74 patients evaluated upon admission, 76% had no agitation or confusion, 15% showed mild, and 9% showed moderate to severe.

Of the 74 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no agitation or confusion were 74%. Those with mild were 12%, and with moderate to severe increase to 13%.
