Morphine Dosage at Admission:

55% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage at admission was 42.3mg.

Morphine Dosage at Admission and Last 24 Hours:

55% of the patients were using opioids upon admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage was 42.3mg at admission and increased to 58.4mg in the last 24 hours.

Pain at Admission:

Of the 64 patients assessed at admission, 61% had no pain or mild pain, 31% had moderate to severe pain, and 8% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Pain at Admission and Last 3 Days:

Of the 64 patients assessed at admission, 61% had no pain or mild pain, 31% had moderate to severe pain, and 8% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 37 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no pain or mild pain slightly decreased to 38%. Those with moderate to severe pain decreased to 14%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 49%.

Breathlessness at Admission:

Out of the 64 patients assessed at admission, 79% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 13% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness, 2% experienced extremely severe breathlessness, and 8% appeared vague and not had unclear consciousness.

Breathlessness at Admission and Last 3 Days:

Out of the 64 patients assessed at admission, 79% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 13% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness, 2% experienced extremely severe breathlessness, and 8% appeared vague and not had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 37 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild breathlessness decreased to 46%. Those with moderate breathlessness decreased to 3%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 51%.

Fatigue at Admission:

Of the 64 patients evaluated at admission, 49% had no or mild fatigue, while 39% experienced moderate to severe fatigue, and 5% experienced extremely severe fatigue. 8% felt appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 64 patients evaluated at admission, 49% had no or mild fatigue, while 39% experienced moderate to severe fatigue, and 5% experienced extremely severe fatigue. 8% felt appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 64 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild fatigue decreased to 14%. Those with moderate to severe fatigue were 37%, and with extremely severe increased to 11%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 38%.

Leg Edema at Admission:

Of the 64 patients evaluated at admission, 59% had no to mild edema, and 41% had moderate to severe edema.

Of the 64 patients evaluated at admission, 59% had no to mild edema, and 41% had moderate to severe edema.

 

Of the 64 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild edema were 63%, and with moderate to severe edema were 38%.

Ascites at Admission:

Of the 64 patients evaluated at admission, 71% had no ascites or showed no symptoms related to it, and 30% showed symptoms due to ascites.

Of the 64 patients evaluated at admission, 71% had no ascites or showed no symptoms related to it, and 30% showed symptoms due to ascites.

 

Of the 64 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no ascites or no symptoms were 78%, and with symptoms due to ascites were 22%.

Agitation or Confusion (Hyperactive Delirium) at Admission:

Of the 64 patients evaluated upon admission, 83% showed no agitation or confusion, 16% showed mild, and 2% showed severe.

Of the 64 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no agitation or confusion were 83%. Those with mild were 13 %, and with moderate were 5%.
