Morphine Dosage at Admission:

67% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage at admission was 74.7mg.

Morphine Dosage at Admission and Last 24 Hours:

67% of the patients were using opioids upon admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage was 74.7mg at admission and increased to 86.1mg in the last 24 hours.

Pain at Admission:

Of the 181 patients assessed at admission, 59% had no pain or mild pain, 37% had moderate to severe pain, and 4% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 181 patients assessed at admission, 59% had no pain or mild pain, 37% had moderate to severe pain, and 4% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 95 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing way, the patients with no pain or mild pain slightly decreased to 52%. Those with moderate to severe pain decreased to 10%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 38%.

Breathlessness at Admission:

Of the 181 patients assessed at admission, 85% had no breathlessness or only mild breathlessness. 11% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness, and 4% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 95 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild breathlessness decreased to 56%. Those with moderate to severe breathlessness decreased to 4%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 40%.

Fatigue at Admission:

Of the 181 patients evaluated at admission, 47% had no fatigue or only mild fatigue, while 48% experienced moderate to severe fatigue. 5% felt appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 181 patients evaluated at admission, 47% had no fatigue or only mild fatigue, while 48% experienced moderate to severe fatigue. 5% felt appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 181 patients evaluated in the last 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild fatigue decreased to 25%. Those with moderate to severe fatigue were 45%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 30%.

Out of the 181 patients assessed at admission, 64% had no or mild edema, and 36% had moderate to severe edema.

Out of the 181 patients assessed in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild edema were 61%, and with moderate to severe edema were 39%.

Of the 181 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no ascites or no symptoms were 70%, and with symptoms were 29%.

Of the 181 patients evaluated at admission, 87% had no agitation and confusion, 7% showed mild, and 6% showed moderate agitation and confusion.
