Morphine Dosage at Admission:

69% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage at admission was 55.2mg.

Morphine Dosage at Admission and Last 24 Hours:

69% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage was 55.2mg at admission and increased to 81.9mg in the last 24 hours.

Pain at Admission:

Of the 108 patients assessed at admission, 71% had no pain or mild pain, 23% had moderate to severe pain, and 6% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 108 patients assessed at admission, 71% had no pain or mild pain, 23% had moderate to severe pain, and 6% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 56 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no pain or mild pain decreased to 57%. Those with moderate to severe pain decreased to 7%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 36%.

Of the 108 patients assessed at admission, 62% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 32% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness. 6% appeared vague and not had unclear consciousness.

Of the 108 patients assessed at admission, 62% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 32% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness. 6% appeared vague and not had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 56 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild breathlessness decreased to 50%. Those with moderate to severe breathlessness decreased to 15%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 36%.

Fatigue at Admission:

Of the 108 patients evaluated at admission, 54% had no or mild fatigue, 40% experienced moderate to severe fatigue, and 6% experienced extremely severe fatigue. 8% felt appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 64 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild fatigue decreased to 37%. Those with moderate to severe fatigue were 32%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 31%.

Leg Edema at Admission:

Of the 108 patients evaluated at admission, 67% had no to mild edema, and 33% had moderate to severe edema.

Of the 108 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild edema were 58%, and with moderate to severe edema were 42%.

Ascites at Admission:

Of the 108 patients evaluated at admission, 91% had no ascites or showed no symptoms related to it, and 9% showed symptoms due to ascites.

Of the 108 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no ascites or no symptoms were 91%, and with symptoms due to ascites were 8%.

Agitation or Confusion (Hyperactive Delirium) at Admission:

Of the 108 patients evaluated upon admission, 87% showed no agitation or confusion, 8% showed mild, and 4% showed moderate to severe.

Of the 64 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no agitation or confusion were 83%. Those with mild were 10 %, and with moderate to severe were 7%.
