Morphine Dosage at Admission:

82% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage at admission was 84.6mg.

Morphine Dosage at Admission and Last 24 Hours:

82% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage was 84.6mg at admission and increased to 111.7mg in the last 24 hours.

Pain at Admission:

Of the 33 patients assessed at admission, 57% had no pain or mild pain, 39% had moderate to severe pain, and 3% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 33 patients assessed at admission, 57% had no pain or mild pain, 39% had moderate to severe pain, and 3% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 18 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no pain or mild pain was 44%. Those with moderate to severe pain decreased to 0%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 56%.

Of the 33 patients assessed at admission, 76% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 24% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness.

Of the 18 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild breathlessness decreased to 39%. Those with moderate breathlessness decreased to 6%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 56%.

Fatigue at Admission:

Of the 33patients evaluated at admission, 63% had no or mild fatigue, 33% experienced moderate to severe fatigue. 3% felt appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 33 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild fatigue decreased to 33%. Those with moderate to severe fatigue were 33%, and with extremely severe were 11%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 33%.

Leg Edema at Admission:

Of the 33 patients evaluated at admission, 54% had no to mild edema, and 45% had moderate to severe edema.

Of the 33 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no ascites or no symptoms were 91%, and with symptoms due to ascites were 9%.

Of the 33 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no agitation or confusion were 88%. Those with mild were 3 %, and with moderate to severe increase to 9%.
