Morphine Dosage at Admission:

82% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage at admission was 70.6mg.

82% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage was 70.6mg at admission and 97.6mg in the last 24 hours.

Pain at Admission:

Of the 22 patients assessed at admission, 46% had no pain or mild pain, 51% had moderate to severe pain, and 5% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 22 patients assessed at admission, 46% had no pain or mild pain, 51% had moderate to severe pain, and 5% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 14 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no pain or mild pain were 43%. Those with moderate to severe pain decreased to 21%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 36%.

Breathlessness at Admission:

Of the 22 patients assessed at admission, 73% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 23% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness, 5% appeared vague and not had unclear consciousness.

Of the 22 patients assessed at admission, 73% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 23% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness, 5% appeared vague and not had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 14 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild breathlessness decreased to 50%. Those with severe were 7%, and with extremely severe were 7%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 36%.

Fatigue at Admission:

Of the 22 patients evaluated at admission, 73% had no or mild fatigue, 23% experienced moderate to severe fatigue. 5% felt appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 22 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild fatigue decreased to 23%. Those with moderate to severe fatigue were 28%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 50%.

Of the 64 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild edema were 46%, and with moderate to severe edema were 55%.

Of the 22 patients evaluated at admission, 69% had no ascites or showed no symptoms related to it, and 32% showed symptoms due to ascites.

Of the 22 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no ascites or no symptoms were 73%, and with symptoms due to ascites were 27%.

Agitation or Confusion (Hyperactive Delirium) at Admission:

Of the 22 patients evaluated upon admission, 86% showed no agitation or confusion, 9% showed mild, and 5% showed severe.
