Morphine Dosage at Admission:

73% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage at admission was 65.6mg.

Morphine Dosage at Admission and Last 24 Hours:

73% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage was 65.6mg at admission and 83.1mg in the last 24 hours.

Pain at Admission:

Of the 30 patients assessed at admission, 47% had no pain or mild pain, 53% had moderate to severe pain.

Pain at Admission and Last 3 Days:

Of the 30 patients assessed at admission, 47% had no pain or mild pain, 53% had moderate to severe pain.

 

Of the 17 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no pain or mild pain decreased to 12%. Those with moderate to severe pain decreased to 6%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 82%.

Breathlessness at Admission:

Of the 30 patients assessed at admission, 83% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 17% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness.

Of the 30 patients assessed at admission, 83% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 17% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness.

 

Of the 17 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild breathlessness decreased to 18%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 82%.

Fatigue at Admission:

Of the 30 patients evaluated at admission, 53% had no or mild fatigue, while 47% experienced moderate to severe fatigue.

Of the 30 patients evaluated at admission, 53% had no or mild fatigue, while 47% experienced moderate to severe fatigue

 

Of the 30 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild fatigue decreased to 33%. Those with moderate to severe fatigue were 26%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 40%.

Leg Edema at Admission:

Of the 30 patients evaluated at admission, 73% had no to mild edema, and 26% had moderate to severe edema.

Of the 30 patients evaluated at admission, 73% had no to mild edema, and 26% had moderate to severe edema.

 

Of the 30 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild edema were 60%, and with moderate to severe edema were 40%.

Ascites at Admission:

Of the 30 patients evaluated at admission, 90% had no ascites or showed no symptoms related to it, and 10% showed symptoms due to ascites.

Of the 30 patients evaluated at admission, 90% had no ascites or showed no symptoms related to it, and 10% showed symptoms due to ascites.

 

Of the 30 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, 96% had no ascites or showed no symptoms related to it, and 3% showed symptoms due to ascites.

Agitation or Confusion (Hyperactive Delirium) at Admission:

Of the 30 patients evaluated upon admission, 80% had no agitation or confusion, 10% showed mild, and 10% showed moderate to severe.

Of the 30 patients evaluated upon admission, 80% had no agitation or confusion, 10% showed mild, and 10% showed moderate to severe.

 

Of the 30 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no agitation or confusion were 70%. Those with mild were 20%, and with moderate to severe were 10%.
