Research Activities
Since the establishment of the Collaboration Support Office under the hospital director at the National Cancer Center Hospital East (February 2018), the total number of agreements (new and amended) for collaborative research, etc. has increased by approximately 3.8 times, from 193 in FY2017 to 741 in FY2023 (Figure 1). From FY2021, approvals for the Collaborative Research, etc. have been made by each campus (Tsukiji C is the Industry-Academia Collaboration and Intellectual Property Strategy Office), and the number of approvals for Kashiwa C has increased by approximately 1.4 times and 1.6 times, respectively, from 434 in FY2021 to 612 in FY2022 and 694 in FY2023.

The number of active projects and research funds for collaborative research with companies, etc. (including IIT, etc.) that have received payment has increased by approximately 5.7 times and 10.8 times, respectively, from 59 projects and 312 million yen in FY2014, 10 years ago, to 338 projects and 3.356 billion yen in FY2023 (Figure 2).

The number of patent applications was 70 in total for FY2023 (21 new applications, 11 priority applications) and 70 in total for FY2022 (28 new applications, 10 priority applications), showing a strong patent application situation.
