Introduction
We perform inspection, operation, assistance, and troubleshooting of medical equipment in the hospital.
The Team and What We Do
1) Operating rooms
We performed inspection and troubleshooting for endoscopy and electric scalpels, etc.
We conducted preparation of equipment and supported the new video system in response to the expansion of one room.
We responded to the start of ANSUR cases in colorectal surgery in November and the resumption of Da Vinci (for the first time since the Xi model was introduced) after a five-year absence.
The number of robot-assisted surgery support tasks increased by more than 200 from the previous year, bringing the total to 835 (Da Vinci: 827 cases, ANSUR: 8 cases), an all-time high.
One Surgical microscope was replaced, and the necessary measures were taken.
2) ICU
We conducted blood purification therapy in HD: 8 cases and CHDF: 15 cases. We prepared and inspected ventilators and high-flow nasal cannula devices. In addition, inspections of defibrillators and other equipment were conducted.
3) Wards
We prepared and inspected ventilators and high-flow nasal cannula devices. We conducted apheresis: 6 cases of auto-PBSCH, 3 cases of allo-PBSCH, and 2 cases (including one case is a new clinical trial) of immune cell therapy.
Additionally, we conducted inspections of medical monitors and defibrillators.
4) CART
We conducted two inpatient and three outpatient cases, bringing the total to 5.
5) Medical equipment management
In preparation for the hospital functional evaluation, we worked with each department to ensure proper equipment management.
We started managing new non-water tank-type frozen plasma thawing devices.
We started registering medical devices related to research and clinical studies in a ledger and started their management.
We strengthened medical equipment management by displaying department names on department-fixed medical equipment.
We supported proper management by displaying instructions for pre-use inspection on infusion pumps and syringe pumps.
Research Activities
Equipment loans for two double-blind research of medical devices have been completed.
As non-blinded staff, we performed equipment management, data management, and malfunction response. We did many tasks for the first time, so we handled them with a sense of excitement and tension, and we were able to return the equipment to the contractor without any problems.
Education
1) We evaluate, guide, and educate new employees using checklists for each task.
2) One staff member obtained Certified Clinical Engineer Specialist.
3) Four staff completed the training designated by the Minister of Health, Labour, and Welfare in accordance with the expansion of the scope of work.
We improved our knowledge and skills and contributed to each task.
Future Prospects
Every year, new clinical trial aphereses are added, and the equipment settings and other details change. That is why we will continue demonstrating our capabilities as medical equipment professionals.
The number of HD performed is at an all-time high, and the need for blood purification therapy is anticipated to continue increasing. Therefore, we will develop a system that can respond quickly and safely, including training dialysis technicians.
