Introduction
Since its establishment in 2018, the Center for Education and Professional Career Development of the Hospital East has focused on training medical professionals. In addition to the resident programs for physicians and pharmacists that were already in operation before its establishment, a resident program for medical physicists was launched in fiscal year 2021, and a resident program for radiological technologists started in fiscal year 2022. The first graduates of the radiological technologist resident program were produced in fiscal year 2024.
The Team and What We Do
1. At the Center for Education and Professional Career Development of the Hospital East, recruitment briefings for various types of job and resident symposiums are planned and operated, and we actively accept visitors who wish to observe.

2. Regarding education, support is provided for constructing career paths and acquiring specialized qualifications for each type of job. We keep track of the qualification acquisition status in each hospital department and provide necessary support through information gathering on acquisition requirements and difficulty levels. The job rotation system is also continuously operated to help staff find their aptitudes through experiencing various duties, aiming for long-term human resource development.
3. The overseas support system is open for applications twice a year, and after evaluation, we supported six individuals. Additionally, we held four study-abroad report sessions that trainees conducted after returning to Japan, promoting knowledge sharing among staff.
4. As part of community contribution, we provided job experience to high school students from 2 schools and sent cancer education instructors to 2 elementary schools. We also held a public lectures and released a video to disseminate information to the general public.
5. We provided case observation opportunities for doctors from other facilities to obtain licenses to use the endoscopic surgery robot "Da Vinci" by offering 36 observation cases in gastric surgery department and 34 in urology and retroperitoneal tumors department.
6. A working group meeting was held to organize the challenges of resident system, and we conducted a questionnaire survey for the current status investigation.
Future Prospects
1. In addition to further improving the development of human resources in the relevant job categories, we aim to gain a broader understanding of the situations and identify issues regarding various occupations, with the goal to secure excellent talent through proactive intervention.
2. To contribute to the internationalization of hospitals, we aim to strengthen collaboration with overseas medical facilities and engage in the development of international talent.
3. Based on the issues organized by the working group examining the resident system, we would like to work to improve resident’s workplace environment and enhance their welfare benefits, aiming for the sustainability of the system and an increase in attractiveness.
