Introduction
The Office of Cancer Registry is a department that executes a hospital-based cancer registry.
The Team and What We Do
In hospital-based cancer registration, the number of cases diagnosed in 2023 (from January to December) and first seen at our hospital for that cancer was 7,716. Of these, 5,919 cases received initial treatment at our hospital (including cases where treatment was continued at our hospital after being initiated at another hospital), 243 cases were diagnosed only at our hospital, 825 cases had completed treatment at another hospital, and 729 cases were diagnosed at another hospital and did not receive treatment at our hospital (excluding second opinions) (Table 1).

We are also cooperating in the trial operation of software related to medical information management. New features of Hos-CanR NEXT are first tested at our hospital and the NCCH before being made available to other facilities.
Additionally, we are contributing to biobank-related research by developing software to support data entry for a standardized questionnaire used across the National Centers for Advanced and Specialized Medical Care, and are using it to register questionnaire data.
Research Activities
We are actively engaged in the training of cancer registry personnel, and currently have two staff members certified at the basic level and four at the intermediate level.
Future Prospects
The aggregated results of hospital-based cancer registration are shared with each department through the hospital network. As this data is considered to be a valuable resource for clinical practice, research, and management analysis, we intend to continue providing it in the future.
