Introduction
The Division of Medical Informatics was established on February 1st, 2018, for the management of the hospital information system of the National Cancer Center Hospital (NCCH).
The Team and What We Do
The roles of the Division of Medical Informatics are the management of the hospital information systems and infrastructure of the National Cancer Center Hospital, and contributing to medicine and cancer research by providing a secure, efficient, and advanced environment for information systems.
Research Activities
Through the following projects, we made proposals for information systems that promote the utilization of clinical data and the establishment of a data utilization infrastructure in the hospital.
- A database system for in-hospital clinical information data scrutiny was established for the purpose of establishing a quality assurance mechanism for medical information data in the hospital information system ("Efforts to Create Real World Evidence", FY2019 AMED Medical Technology Implementation Promotion Project).
- A data collection infrastructure to promote oncology research was developed in the central hospital for clinical research.
- A prototype Universal Searcher, which enables us to display clinical information in an adequate format according to disease scenarios and situations, was developed and enhanced.
Clinical Trials
We are supporting clinical trials in the NCCH.
Education
We are committed to developing personnel capable of overseeing the operation and management of our entire information system to ensure the appropriate provision of information necessary for clinical care and research activities.
Furthermore, as part of our cybersecurity initiatives for medical institutions, we are also working to establish an educational environment to enhance information literacy and ensure security across the entire hospital.
Future Prospects
We will execute the update project for the fourth-phase hospital information system, scheduled for operation in 2027, in collaboration with the ITISC. Specifically, we will advance the development of an environment capable of appropriately collecting and providing information necessary for clinical care and research in accordance with hospital policies. This is expected to promote the utilization of clinical information and establish an environment that leads clinical care and research both domestically and internationally.
