International Robotic D2 Gastrectomy Seminar at NCC Hospital East

The International Robotic D2 Gastrectomy Seminar was held on June 19, 2023 at National Cancer Center Hospital East, hosted by the Department of Gastric Surgery, Hospital East. The seminar took place as a post-congress event of the International Gastric Cancer Congress (IGCC) 2023 held in Yokohama the previous week, with the aim of promoting the Japanese developed robotic gastric cancer surgery with precise surgical techniques to the world.

24 participants from the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Turkey, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Korea, China, Slovenia and Hong Kong gathered and attended the seminar. In the morning, basic surgical techniques were explained, and live video of robotic distal gastrectomy with D2 dissection (performed by Takahiro Kinoshita, Chief, Department of Gastric Surgery, NCC Hospital East) was transmitted from the operating room to the auditorium with real-time Q&A interaction. The surgery went smoothly, participants later commented on the sophisticated surgery techniques. In the afternoon, two lectures were delivered by Takahiro Kinoshita and Naruhiko Ikoma (Associate Professor, Department of Surgery, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas, USA), and further in-depth points were discussed. In the post-seminar questionnaire, we received a lot of feedback from the participants that the seminar was eye opening, and we were pleased to see them. We cordially thank the interest in the event, the enthusiasm of the participants, and look forward to welcoming participation to these international exchange events in the future.
