Collaborative research

In the Division of Supportive Care Research, we are trying to develop novel drugs for the improvement of quality of life for cancer patients including patients suffering from untoward side effects induced by cancer treatments.

In particular, we now focus on 1) development of anorexic ghrelin hormone-like peptides extracted from stomach of salmon for the treatment of cardiac dysfunction, caused by cancer cachexia or anticancer drugs. Further, we are developing novel opioid analgesics targeted for the hetero-dimeric m/d opioid receptors and novel analgesics targeted for platelet activating factor (PAF) receptor-mediated signaling that may cause severe chronic pain.
